Today, just as in 1936, each and every vase in the Alvar Aalto Collection is mouth blown at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. It takes 7 craftsmen, 12 work stages, 1100C and 30 hours to make an individual vase. With unwavering pride, the craftsmen are committed to bringing these unconventional shapes to life. Every single Aalto vase is individually made, not manufactured.
In 2021 for its 140 years, Iittala launches the vase in amethyst, a radiant new hue that transforms from blue to vibrant purple in the light. A beautiful gift that comes in an anniversary gift package.
