Initially designed to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934, the Crate Collection has been relaunched in a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration.

The new version of the Crate Lounge Chair stays true to the original design with precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to reduce production costs and optimize the assembly process. The chair features a low seating, a sloping backrest and supportive armrests, offering functionality and comfort without taking up much space. The Crate Lounge Chair is made of solid pine wood with a water-based lacquered finish in various colours. The chair is for indoor and outdoor use. The chairs can be complemented with optional seat cushions for extra comfort.

Options

The lounge chair matches beautifully with the Crate side table and the Crate low table, and can be combined with the Crate dining chairs.

All chairs  can be supplied with cushions made from weather-resistant fabric in various colours.
