Initially designed to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934, the Crate Collection has been relaunched in a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration.

The new version of the Crate Dining Chair stays true to the original design with precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to reduce production costs and optimize the assembly process. The chair features a higher seating to fit comfortably under a dining table, a sloping backrest and supportive armrests, offering functionality and comfort without taking up much space. The Crate Dining Chair is made of solid pine wood with a water-based lacquered finish in various colours. The chair is for indoor and outdoor use and can be complemented with optional seat cushions for extra comfort.

Options

The dining chair matches beautifully with the Crate lounge chairs, and side table and the Crate low table.

All chairs can be supplied with cushions made from weather-resistant fabric in various colours.
